More about Isabel Bonafe

Curriculum

Isabel Bonafe’s recent work has revolved around the oblivion of memory. She is interested in the human being as a place of images, where memory operates, is contained and then represented in thought. Bonafe began questioning the evocative power of the photographic image: what urges us to relive the past and if there is even a possibility to save and preserve memories. It becomes a nostalgic coping mechanism, protecting us from the emptiness and prepare us for the absolute absence. When reality ceases it becomes a memory, which undergo a process of continual transformation until they fade.

London-based artist Isabel Bonafé graduated from Seville College of the Arts with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2014. Currently She is on MA Fine Art programme at Central Saint Martins.
